Summary

They Both Die at the End meets The Loneliest Girl in the Universe in this mind-bending sci-fi mystery and tender love story about two boys aboard a spaceship sent on a rescue mission, from two-time National Book Award finalist Eliot Schrefer。

Two boys, alone in space。 Sworn enemies sent on the same rescue mission。

Ambrose wakes up on the Coordinated Endeavor with no memory of a launch。 There’s more that doesn’t add up: evidence indicates strangers have been on board, the ship’s operating system is voiced by his mother, and his handsome, brooding shipmate has barricaded himself away。 But nothing will stop Ambrose from making his mission succeed—not when he’s rescuing his own sister。

In order to survive the ship’s secrets, Ambrose and Kodiak will need to work together and learn to trust each other 。 。 。 especially once they discover what they are truly up against。 Love might be the only way to survive。

Intimate, transcendent, and existential。 Good shit!

I really enjoyed how it was romantic but had many other aspects and was well balanced。

I cannot say how happy I am that I went into this not knowing a single thing about it--not even having read the blurb。 I thought it was going to be an easy breezy gay YA sci fi romance, and it ended up being so much more。 The plot unravelled beautifully and the romance did too。 The tension between Ambrose & Kodiak was great, but as was the tension caused by the plot。 I want to say more, but I also think it's just so much better if you go in unspoilt。I have a lot of gushy and soppy feelings, ones I cannot say how happy I am that I went into this not knowing a single thing about it--not even having read the blurb。 I thought it was going to be an easy breezy gay YA sci fi romance, and it ended up being so much more。 The plot unravelled beautifully and the romance did too。 The tension between Ambrose & Kodiak was great, but as was the tension caused by the plot。 I want to say more, but I also think it's just so much better if you go in unspoilt。I have a lot of gushy and soppy feelings, ones that I would rather pretend I didn't。 But Sc>Jordan

This book was marketed as a sweet romance and , while it is romantic, it is action packed and gut-wrenching and absolutely heartbreaking。 Part of it was a bit confusing and the relationship between Ambrose and Kodiak felt a little quick, but not enough for me not to absolutely adore this book。 It is absolutely bonkers in the best way possible。

I absolutely devoured this book。 Not spoiling anything, but I didn’t expect the plot to go in the direction it did at all。 Definitely try reading up until at least the beginning of Part 2。

I have no words for the emotional roller coaster I went through。 I do have to say this was a great book it’s one of those books that I wish I could read again for the first time。 A story about two teenage boys on a space mission to save someone but there’s a hidden truth that only the AI knows and it drove me nuts because I was second-guessing myself the whole entire time。

I usually enjoy reading enemies to lovers but this was way too stupid to even spend my time reading it。 The whole plot was about two horny teen astronauts are supposed to hate eachother but one constantly thinks about having sex with the super muscular sexy long hair guy, ah and they are supposed to save someone (idk that was supposed to be the main plot but I didn’t care at all)。 Just stop dear god。 Fuck, complete the mission and fuck again and you solved all your problems。 The writing style wa I usually enjoy reading enemies to lovers but this was way too stupid to even spend my time reading it。 The whole plot was about two horny teen astronauts are supposed to hate eachother but one constantly thinks about having sex with the super muscular sexy long hair guy, ah and they are supposed to save someone (idk that was supposed to be the main plot but I didn’t care at all)。 Just stop dear god。 Fuck, complete the mission and fuck again and you solved all your problems。 The writing style was horrendous, boring, the only thing that kept me going was that at least this was easy to read (not like those hard scifi stuff because it’s supposed to be YA)。 I usually give a second chance in a few years to all those books I didnt liked but I think this one doesn’t even deserve it。 。。。more

This story was so different than I expected and I loved it! Big kudos to the artist as well。 。。。more

I borrowed this book from my local library and it’s so good I might buy my own copy so I can read it again whenever I want。 What can I say - I’m a sucker for star crossed queer astronauts!

Bam! didn't expect the twist AT ALL。 This book made my life feel like nothing and something at the same time。 It really conjures up the darkest part of your thoughts。 In this masterpiece, time becomes nothing but numbers。 Everything about this is just。。。sad and lonely。 I just felt very empty after reading it that it took me weeks to even think about it & share my thoughts on it。On the bright side, this is a great gay-themed sci-fi without focusing too much on the romance part。 I love me some rom Bam! didn't expect the twist AT ALL。 This book made my life feel like nothing and something at the same time。 It really conjures up the darkest part of your thoughts。 In this masterpiece, time becomes nothing but numbers。 Everything about this is just。。。sad and lonely。 I just felt very empty after reading it that it took me weeks to even think about it & share my thoughts on it。On the bright side, this is a great gay-themed sci-fi without focusing too much on the romance part。 I love me some romance but too much of it gets boring。 Definitely, a 5-star worthy book。 。。。more

This has got to be one of the most engaging books that I’ve read in awhile。 I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the relationship development。 Everything seemed very natural and thought out。 Even though I had the major twist spoiled for me when recommended this book, I still found myself trying to rationalize the oddities like the main characters did。 The only thing that I would scrutinize it for is the development of the two countries left on Earth。 The world building was excellent, but I wanted t This has got to be one of the most engaging books that I’ve read in awhile。 I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the relationship development。 Everything seemed very natural and thought out。 Even though I had the major twist spoiled for me when recommended this book, I still found myself trying to rationalize the oddities like the main characters did。 The only thing that I would scrutinize it for is the development of the two countries left on Earth。 The world building was excellent, but I wanted to know more (which I suppose is a sign of good writing。) 。。。more

This book was a beautiful and wild ride。 Part one reads like a thriller and then once you know what is happening and your mind is blown you are frustrated and rooting so hard for these two。 I love this book so much

Aaaaaah! Space! Slowly coming out of my confusion in the beginning then love and then pain and then ultimate love。Be warned this book gets dark and has potentially triggering themes。

4,5/5 ⭐Am I alive? Are you? This one sentence that the book starts with sets the whole tone for this novel。 This was exactly the type of sci-fi that I love !! It explores themes of humanity and what makes you alive and a human? It's FULL of twists and turns you won't see coming which I always love。 And of course it's so so queer。 There's a beautiful love story between the two characters at the core of this story。 Their love trescends through time and space (literally) and it explores loneliness, 4,5/5 ⭐Am I alive?
